Belgium will set off a boom in pet products production
Belgian pet product makers have announced that they will build their first production facility in the United States in Gaffney, SC, USA.
A news report released by the Carolina Department of Commerce recently showed that Moderna Products, based in Izehem, Belgium, has decided to invest $6.5 million to build its first production base in the United States, which will be built in Cherokee County. In an existing facility near Interstate, the plant covers 116,000 square feet. As a company specializing in the production and sale of pet plastic products (including pet cages and pet bowls), Moderna Products will launch the company's full range of injection molding operations at the site. Moderna CEO Barte Bonte said in a statement that the location of South Carolina will allow the company to shorten its supply chain and better serve its growing North American customer base. The production site is expected to be operational by the end of 2015, and Moderna plans to hire at least 35 employees to complete the program in the next five years.
