On September 24, the installation of the Dalian coherent light source, the main body of the comprehensive experimental apparatus based on the adjustable EUV coherent light source funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, was completed. On that day, after the expert's rigorous system installation project was accepted, the project specialist started the commissioning of the free electron laser amplifier at 21:30 in the evening. The whole debugging process was very smooth, with 22:50 points and high quality of more than 300 megavolt energy. The electron beam finally passes through all the components of the free electron laser amplifier, and the first 18-meter undulator array emits the first beam of extreme ultraviolet light.

The Dalian coherent light source is the only free electron laser user device operating in the extreme ultraviolet region in the world, and it is also the first free scientific laser user device in China. After commissioning, this device will produce the world's strongest EUV beam. Each laser pulse of the light source can emit over 10 trillion photons. The wavelength can be continuously adjusted from 50nm to 150nm. It has complete coherence and the pulse length can be selected between femtosecond and picosecond modes. This light source has an extremely wide range of applications in important scientific fields such as chemistry, physics, biology, energy, materials, and the environment.

The Dalian coherent light source was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and was jointly funded by the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The project was officially launched at the beginning of 2012 and was officially launched on October 22, 2014. . Since the official start of the project, the major infrastructure projects and the development of the main light source unit have been completed in less than two years and the first light has been achieved, creating a new record for the construction of similar large-scale scientific devices. This project also created a precedent for the successful cooperation between scientific research experts and large scientific device development experts in China.

The Dalian coherent light source team will further cooperate closely on the basis of the existing work and strive to complete parameter optimization and beamline station commissioning in the near future, strive to reach the design targets as soon as possible, and provide high-quality EUV light sources for scientific research.
