How to install a trap?

The steam trap is considered as a small component in the entire steam system, but it has a great impact on the system work and economic operation. Therefore, the maintenance and overhaul of the steam trap is also very important. Only the important role of the steam trap in production is fully emphasized. Diligent maintenance, so that the trap is often in a good state of work, in order to ensure the best energy-saving effect and increase economic efficiency.

How to install a trap?

1.Before installing the trap, be sure to use pressure steam to purge the pipe to remove debris from the pipe.

2. The filter should be installed before the trap to ensure that the trap is not blocked by pipe debris and the filter is cleaned regularly.

3. The valve should be installed before and after the trap to facilitate the repair of the trap at any time.

4. Condensate flow direction should be consistent with the trap installation arrow sign.

5. The trap should be installed at the lowest point of the outlet of the equipment and discharge the condensate in time to avoid vapor resistance in the pipeline.

6. If there is no position to install the trap at the lowest position of the equipment, add a reverse bend at the lowest point of the outlet (condensate riser), raise the condensate level and then install the trap to avoid vapor resistance.

7. The outlet pipe of the trap should not be immersed in water. (If immersed in water, drill a hole in the bend to break the vacuum and prevent the sand from sucking back.)

8. Mechanical traps should be installed horizontally.

9. Do not install steam traps in series.

10. Each device should have its own trap.

11. A thermostatic type trap requires an over-cooled super-cooled tube with a temperature of one meter or more. Other types of traps should be as close as possible to the equipment.

12. When using tumble dryer (with siphon type) equipment when selecting traps, please specify: Use steam traps with anti-blocking device to prevent the device from producing steam locks.

13. If there is condensate recovery after the trap, the outlet pipe of the trap should be connected to the main pipe from above the recovery manifold to reduce back pressure and prevent backflow.

14. If there is condensate recovery after the trap, pipelines of different pressure levels should be recovered separately.

15. After the trap, the condensate recovery header cannot climb, increasing the back pressure of the trap.

16. Before the trap condensate enters the recovery manifold, a check valve is installed to prevent condensation from flowing back.

17. Install steam traps on the steam pipeline. The main pipeline should have a condensate collecting well close to the main pipeline radius, and then lead to the trap with a small pipe.

18. Mechanical traps are not used for a long period of time. Remove the drain screw to release the water inside to prevent freezing.

19. Discover steam traps running out of steam, timely draining and cleaning filters, check according to actual conditions, and repair at any time in the event of a malfunction. At least once a year to repair, remove the impurities inside.
