For medium and heavy-duty molds, CVD high-temperature titanium plating combined with precision vacuum heat treatment helps control deformation, making it ideal for applications like cold forging dies, hydraulic drawing dies, and tungsten carbide drawing lines. In contrast, PVD titanium plating at lower temperatures (150°C to 500°C) is more suitable for tools and parts with lower loads or precise requirements. Aluminum titanium nitride coatings with high aluminum content can form an aluminum oxide layer on the hard film surface. This oxide layer can withstand oxidation up to 923°C, offering protection against high-speed cutting edge oxidation and maintaining high-temperature hardness. For example, users often require large gaps in carbide cutting tools, yet high-speed steel tools are overproduced. The demand for efficient tools in modern manufacturing is high, but low-grade standard tools are still over-produced. In developed countries, carbide cutting tools now account for 70% of the market, while high-speed steel tools are declining by 1–2% annually, dropping below 30%. Super-hard tools such as diamond and cubic boron nitride make up about 3% of the market.
