Wood door and window technology and construction process details
In the construction industry, woodworking is one of the most commonly used techniques, especially in the decoration sector. From doors and wardrobes to cabinets and bookshelves, wood is a versatile material that plays a crucial role in interior design. But how much do you really know about the woodworking process? Jiuzheng Building Materials Network is here to provide a comprehensive guide on the installation of wooden doors and windows, covering everything from preparation to finishing touches.
**First, the Construction Scope**
This process primarily involves the installation of wooden doors, including swing doors and sliding doors, as well as wooden window systems. These elements are essential for both functionality and aesthetics in any space.
**Second, the Installation Process**
1. **Swing Door Installation**:
Begin by determining the correct position for the door. Mark the installation line on the wall, then place the door frame in position. Temporarily fix it in place, use a plumb line to ensure it's straight, and then secure it permanently. After that, embed the frame into the wall, attach the door panel to the frame, and carefully cut the hinge grooves according to the door’s dimensions. Ensure all parts fit precisely for smooth operation.
2. **Sliding Door Installation**:
Start by fixing the top track, then install the side frames. Place the hanging piece on the I-steel rail and secure it. Fix the lower rail inside the door opening, align the door with the lower rail, and fasten the hanging bolts. Check the alignment between the door edge and the frame, adjust if necessary, and finally install the face panel.
3. **Bottom Sliding Window Installation**:
Fix the lower frame first, followed by the side and upper frames. Cut a wooden trough matching the thickness of the steel bar, and glue the steel channel into it. Attach a special wheel box to the bottom of the window sash, place the sash onto the track, check the gaps, adjust as needed, and finish with the outer cover.
**Third, the Cover Panel Construction**
When installing wooden door and window covers, start by drilling holes in the base wall and laying wooden molds. The spacing between the molds should be less than 300 mm, and each row should be spaced under 150 mm. Next, cut the large core board to match the door or window size and nail it to the wall using round nails. Once the base is secure, apply fire-retardant paint.
Choose high-quality plywood for the trim panels, ensuring the grain pattern is beautiful and the surface is smooth. When cutting the veneer, mark the door opening and face width, use a sharp knife to make precise cuts, and plane the edges at a 45-degree angle. Apply glue to the back and attach it to the base, reinforcing with capless straight nails.
Ensure that all joints at the door opening and wall interface are straight and angled at 45 degrees. After pasting the veneer, install wooden corner trims, and treat horizontal and vertical joints with 45-degree angles for a seamless look.
**Fourth, the Wooden Curtain Box Construction**
**1. Types of Curtain Boxes**
There are two main types: one where the curtain box is hidden within the ceiling and installed during ceiling work, and another where the curtain box is mounted directly on the wall, integrated with the window frame.
**2. Key Construction Points**
The standard height for a curtain box is around 100 mm, with a single pole width of 120 mm and a double pole width of 150 mm or more. The length should extend beyond the window width by at least 300 mm, with 150 mm overhang on each side. For longer windows, the curtain box can run the entire length of the wall.
Use large-core boards for the curtain box, and if it will be painted, match the material with the window frame’s veneer. The adhesive should be applied to the outer and bottom surfaces. Through-type curtain boxes can be directly fixed to the wall and ceiling, while non-through types require metal brackets to ensure stability and even alignment.
