How to identify the pesticide batch number
Pesticides that meet quality standards are clearly marked with the "three certificates" on their packaging. These include the Pesticide Registration Certificate, issued by the agricultural inspection department; the Pesticide Production Permit (with a production license number), issued by the chemical industry authority; and the Pesticide Standard Number (or Quality Certification), issued by the technical supervision department. If a pesticide does not display these three certifications, it may be considered substandard or even counterfeit.
In addition to the three certificates, most domestic pesticides also have a 6- to 8-digit batch number printed on the label. This batch number provides important information about the product's manufacturing date and shelf life. The first two digits represent the year of production, the next two indicate the month, followed by the day, and the last two digits show how many years the pesticide remains effective. For example, a batch number like 960723-02 means the product was manufactured on July 23, 1996, and is valid for two years. Some products only have a 6-digit number, and instead of showing the full date, they may directly state the validity period in years. Others might not list the expiration date at all, which could suggest less strict quality control or incomplete labeling.
It’s always a good idea to check these details before purchasing any pesticide, as proper labeling ensures safety, effectiveness, and compliance with regulations. Always choose products from reputable sources and follow local guidelines when using them.
