PET integrated handle bottle technology can greatly increase production

HC Plastics News:

Australia's Integrated Plastics is increasing the production of PET bottles at its plant in Sydney, New South Wales to meet the growing needs of its brands. These brands seek a form of packaging that is both environmentally friendly and does not compromise clarity.

“We started production in 2014, when we produced 3.5 million bottles. We should be able to reach 16 million this year and send them to the top three beverage retailers in Australia,” Nick Mellen said. To some extent, these bottles are replacing PVC resins used in some brands of liqueur bottles, but according to Mellen, retailers are keen to use alternatives to PVC.

In 2012, Integrated Plastics acquired patents from Australian counterparts B & RIndustries and Sangraal Australia for integrated mold handling (IMH) bottle processing technology and design to further commercialize products in Australia, the Middle East and Asia. Since 2012, Integrated Plastics has also registered several new designs and patents. Mellen said: "Our company's success in further development, coupled with the significant increase in interest from multinational companies, our company acquired B & R and Sangraal in June 2018, thus ensuring global control of the technology. ”

Integrated Plastics has also established a partnership with South Korea's injection molding machinery manufacturing company SDB, which is currently manufacturing bottles on a four-cavity high-speed rotating platform. SDB will deliver an eight-cavity machine to Integrated Plastics early next year. “Once our production capacity is further improved, we also plan to target the dairy market,” Melle said. A Korean bottling company will also use the process on two production lines starting in January 2019.

Mellen said: "Efficiency modeling and our 6 years of IMH bottle delivery experience in Australia have greatly increased production, saved material and reduced waste, which is more advantageous than existing plug-in handle technology. I think it is time to put Our story is told.” The four-cavity rotary machine produces 4,000 1 liter bottles per hour. The 2-liter bottle can be molded at a rate of 3,200 per hour.

The preforming of the IMH bottle can be carried out on a conventional preform injection molding machine. Moldmakers in Australia, India and South Korea currently offer pre-formed molds, and Integrated Plastics has also entered into agreements with leading moldmakers in Canada and China to allow them to mold molds for the IMH process.

In order to promote IMH technology on a global scale, Integrated Plastics plans to work through agents and royalties. SDB is its agent in Korea and has agents in South Asia. “For North America and Europe, we are considering signing an exclusive license agreement with a larger packaging manufacturer. We will authorize a manufacturer but they have the right to reauthorize.”
