Adequate parts, Dongfeng Honda and Guangzhou Honda will be fully resumed in August

According to foreign media reports, Japan's Honda Automobile Co., Ltd. recently stated that due to the fact that it has purchased enough spare parts from Japan, the two Chinese joint ventures, Dongfeng Honda and Guangzhou Honda, will completely resume automobile production in August 2011, and even auto production capacity. It may exceed normal levels.

It is understood that due to the impact of the 3.11 Great Japan Earthquake on the production of component suppliers, there was a serious shortage of parts and components, including Japanese automobile manufacturers, and the production of its Chinese joint venture was also affected. However, Dongfeng Honda and Guangzhou Honda did not announce the impact of the Japanese earthquake on their production.

Honda Motor Co. once said that the company’s parts supply resumed faster. Fumihiko Ike, Honda’s chief financial officer, told reporters: “We hope to be able to restore vehicle production capacity in advance, but this is mainly due to the recovery of spare parts supply. At present, parts supply is recovering at a faster rate.”

In addition, the Honda UK and Turkey factories will resume normal production in September.

Japanese car manufacturers’ local factories’ output in April is not optimistic:

The local factories of Japanese cars are more affected by the earthquake. The data shows that Honda’s domestic production in April was 81% lower than in the same period of 2010 and was only 14,168 units, innovating the company’s worst single-month production record so far. At the same time, domestic sales also decreased by 46% to 27086 vehicles. Exports also dropped by 76% to 6,473 vehicles.

Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. suffered a major earthquake in Japan and disrupted the entire manufacturing industry chain. From March 14 to the end of May, Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. will reduce production of automobiles by more than 550,000 vehicles. Toyota Motor Corporation produced 53,823 vehicles in April, a 78.4% decrease from the same period in 2010. The Suzuki Motor Company, which mainly produces small vehicles, reached 58,598 units, a decrease of only 31.1% from the same period in 2010. This is Toyota Motor Corporation's first loss of "Japan's No. 1" throne since 1976.
