Diamond Grinding Block Project won the first prize of Foshan Science and Technology Award

Among the supported platforms, the professional technology innovation alliance platform receives the highest level of funding. To qualify, an alliance must consist of at least four members and must focus on specific scientific research projects. These alliances should address core, key, and common technologies that are critical for industrial development. Additionally, the reporting entity must have achieved significant breakthroughs in key technologies, possess independent intellectual property rights over core components, and hold more than five patents in order to be eligible for the full 4 million yuan in financial support.

A few days ago, the municipal government also announced the winners of the 2012 Foshan Science and Technology Award. Fourteen projects were recognized, including the project titled "Development and Industrialization of Diamond Grinding Blocks for Building Ceramic Surface Grinding and Polishing," which received the first prize. Compared to last year, the special award category remained vacant this year. Last year, the "Foshan First Ring Expressway Construction and Management Innovation Practice" project won the special award and was also awarded the Grand Prize in the 2012 Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Awards.

According to an official from the Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, the number and quality of this year's winning projects are comparable to those of the previous two years. However, the absence of a special prize this year is a noticeable change. This may reflect a shift in priorities or a more rigorous evaluation process, as the bureau continues to emphasize innovation and practical impact in its science and technology initiatives.
