Home textile maintenance knowledge

Home textiles are soft, everyday items that need proper care to maintain their quality and longevity. Whether it's bedding, curtains, or table linens, understanding the right way to clean and maintain them can make a big difference in how they look and feel over time.

It's recommended to have at least three sets of bedding for your bed, and to wash them every 1-2 months. Before using any new bedding for the first time, it's a good idea to give it a quick wash. This helps remove any excess fibers or chemicals that may be on the surface, making the fabric softer and preventing color fading in the future.

When washing bedding, always check the care label first. Most standard materials, like cotton or polyester-cotton blends, can be washed in a washing machine. Use a mild, neutral detergent and water temperature no higher than 30°C to avoid damaging the fabric. Let the detergent dissolve fully before adding the bedding, and avoid soaking it for too long, as this can lead to unnecessary fading or weakening of the fibers.

Also, it’s important to separate light-colored and dark-colored bedding during washing to prevent color transfer. After washing, dry the bedding in a well-ventilated area, preferably outdoors. If you use a dryer, make sure to select a low heat setting, with a maximum temperature of 35°C, to minimize shrinkage and keep the fabric in good condition.

Keep in mind that natural fabrics like cotton tend to shrink slightly after washing, especially if they haven’t been pre-treated. However, high-quality home textiles are usually manufactured according to national standards, such as the first-class grade, which ensures minimal shrinkage. The fabric is often pre-shrunk during production, so you can use it confidently without worrying about significant size changes over time.
