Home textile maintenance knowledge

Home textiles are soft, everyday items that bring comfort and style to your living space. To ensure they last longer and maintain their quality, proper care is essential.

It's recommended to have at least three sets of bedding for a bed, which helps reduce the frequency of washing and extends the life of the fabric. A good rule of thumb is to clean your bedding every 1-2 months. Before using it for the first time, it's a good idea to wash it once to remove any excess pulp or un-dyed parts, making it softer and less likely to fade in the future.

When washing bedding, most materials can be safely cleaned in a washing machine. However, if the product is made from delicate fabrics like silk, always follow the care label instructions. For regular cotton or cotton-blend bedding, use a neutral detergent and water at a temperature no higher than 30°C. Make sure the detergent is fully dissolved before adding the bedding, as soaking for too long may cause fading. It’s also important to wash light-colored and dark-colored bedding separately to prevent color transfer. After washing, air dry the bedding in a well-ventilated area. If you prefer using a dryer, opt for a low heat setting (no more than 35°C) to avoid shrinkage and damage to the fabric.

Keep in mind that natural fibers like cotton tend to shrink after washing. The amount of shrinkage depends on the material and the manufacturing process. In many countries, there are strict standards in place to control this. For example, polyester-cotton blends typically have the lowest shrinkage rate, followed by pure cotton. When purchasing home textiles, look for products that meet national first-class standards, as these are pre-shrunk and designed for convenience. This means you can enjoy them without worrying about size changes over time.
