Harbin Institute of Technology Qingdao Science and Technology Park will develop diamond project
On the morning of the 26th, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the start of the Astor headquarters in Qingdao Blue Silicon Valley and the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) Qingdao Science and Technology Park. The event took place in an open area between Xingshizhuang Village and the sea, located in the core area of the Blue Silicon Valley. The project is expected to invest a total of 6.5 billion yuan and cover 1,600 mu of land. Its strategic location is surrounded by natural beauty, with the Hong Kong-China Travel Haiquanwan Comprehensive Resort to the north and high-end projects such as the Qingdao University Campus and the Marine National Science Laboratory nearby.
According to Han Jiecai, Vice President of Harbin Institute of Technology, the first phase of the HIT Qingdao Science and Technology Park officially commenced on the 26th. This initial phase will focus on marine advanced equipment and new materials, while promoting technologies in new energy, energy conservation, and environmental protection. It will also serve as a platform for collaboration between Chinese and Russian universities and enterprises in talent training, scientific research, and the commercialization of technological achievements. By aligning with the development direction of the Blue Silicon Valley, the park aims to transform innovations in five key areas: advanced equipment, new materials, civil environment, new energy, and marine biomedicine.
Han Jie emphasized that the main R&D directions include robot technology, marine ship equipment, welding technology, carbon fiber composites, synthetic diamonds, marine anti-corrosion and anti-fouling coatings, marine anti-cancer extracts, and lead compounds for diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. The park will establish a collaborative innovation system from basic research to core technology development and industrialization.
The construction of the HIT Qingdao Science and Technology Park is scheduled to last five years. It will focus on building “one hospital and two bases†— the “Harbin Institute of Industrial Technology,†the “China-Russia Talent Exchange and Technology Cooperation Base,†and the “Qingdao Harbin University Science and Technology Achievement Transformation Base.†The goal is to become a leading demonstration zone for independent innovation and industrial development in the blue economy by 2017.
