Harbin Institute of Technology Qingdao Science and Technology Park will develop diamond project

On the morning of the 26th, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Astor headquarters in Qingdao Blue Silicon Valley and the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) Qingdao Science and Technology Park. The event took place on an open space between Xingshizhuang Village and the sea, within the core area of the Blue Silicon Valley. This ambitious project is expected to attract a total investment of 6.5 billion yuan and cover a vast area of 1,600 mu. Located at the intersection of mountains and sea, the site is strategically positioned: to the north lies the Hong Kong-China Travel Haiquanwan Comprehensive Resort, while to the south are high-end developments such as the Qingdao University Campus and the Marine National Science Laboratory. According to Han Jiecai, Vice President of Harbin Institute of Technology, the first phase of the HIT Qingdao Science and Technology Park officially commenced on the 26th. The initial stage will focus on marine advanced equipment and new materials, aiming to promote technologies in new energy, energy conservation, and environmental protection, with the goal of expanding their influence to both coastal and inland regions. The park will also foster collaboration between Chinese and Russian universities and enterprises in talent development, scientific research, and the commercialization of technological achievements. By aligning with the industrial direction of Blue Silicon Valley, the park will transform cutting-edge research from five key areas: advanced equipment, new materials, civil environment, new energy, and marine biomedicine. Han Jie shared with reporters that the primary R&D directions include robot technology, marine ship equipment, welding technology and equipment, carbon fiber composites, synthetic diamonds, marine anti-corrosion and anti-fouling coatings, marine anti-cancer extracts, and lead compounds for diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. The initiative aims to build a collaborative innovation system spanning basic research, core technology development, and industrial application. The construction period for the HIT Qingdao Science and Technology Park is set to last five years. It will focus on building “one hospital and two bases”: the “Harbin Institute of Industrial Technology,” the “China-Russia Talent Exchange and Technology Cooperation Base,” and the “Qingdao Harbin University Science and Technology Achievement Transformation Base.” The park aspires to become a leading demonstration zone for independent innovation and industrial development in Qingdao’s blue economy by 2017.
