Manufacturers should pay attention to the matters needing attention during the operation of the rubber roller
The printing roller plays a crucial role in the offset press by transferring ink effectively. Proper maintenance is essential to ensure its performance and longevity. Manufacturers must be aware of key operational considerations when handling rubber rollers.
Established in 2001, Dongguan Haichang Hardware & Rubber Co., Ltd. has become a leading manufacturer of industrial and printing machinery rubber rollers. With a strong technical team, advanced equipment, and a commitment to quality and innovation, the company has steadily expanded its market presence. Our products are well-received by clients for their reliability and performance.
Our rubber rollers are developed with high-quality formulas and advanced technology. They come in various types, including ink rollers, water rollers, alcohol-water rollers, polishing rollers, oil rollers, paper rollers, laminating rollers, film blowing rollers, gravure rollers (copper rollers), offset rollers, printing and dyeing rollers, circuit board acid-resistant and high-temperature rollers, shoe composite rollers, and more. These rollers are designed to resist corrosion, acid, alkali, wear, oil, tearing, high temperatures, water, static, and dirt, ensuring long-lasting performance. They are widely used in paper color printing, carton printing, plastic bag printing, and other similar applications.
When using rubber rollers, several important points should be considered:
- During shutdown, it's essential to clean the printing roller thoroughly. If not cleaned properly, oxidation can occur, forming a hard, smooth layer that leads to vitrification, affecting ink transfer. Incomplete cleaning may result in uneven surfaces, making the roller unsuitable for use. Always wash and store the roller correctly after each use.
- In offset printing, excessive water and ink can cause emulsification, creating a hydrophilic layer on the roller surface. This makes it harder to remove ink. To address this, you can scrape off the emulsion, wash the roller with gasoline, or use a mixture of 5% sodium hydroxide and pumice powder. Metal rollers should also be treated accordingly, and fine sandpaper can be used while wet to avoid damage.
- Over time, rubber rollers may age and degrade due to chemical exposure. If the rubber becomes soft or loses its structure, it should not be reused, as it can affect print quality and ink distribution.
- Always keep spare ink rollers available to prevent production delays. Store them in the same environment as blankets, and ensure they are kept straight and free from impact to avoid deformation.
- Avoid storing rubber rollers near large motors or generators, as the ozone produced can accelerate aging and cracking.
- In cold weather, ink may not distribute evenly. Adding a suitable agent to the ink and using an infrared heater to warm the roller can help prevent oxidation and maintain performance.
